Tractor-Trailer Incident Forces I-71 South Closure

Crews from LaGrange Fire & Rescue Department and Ballardsville Fire & Rescue Department were dispatched to the 22 mile marker of Interstate 71 South at 3:22 AM on Friday, Oct. 22nd for a report of a tractor trailer rollover with an entrapment. First units on scene reported an overturned semi off of the roadway and in the median area with one subject trapped in the drivers seat.
An assessment of the entrapment of the driver and vehicle placement indicated that there would be a lengthy extrication process. Assistance for vehicle stabilization was received from Burrows Wrecker Service along with Air Methods KY 11 that was brought to the scene for transport.
All lanes of the interstate were closed for approximately 2.5 hours.
