Sections of Oldham County not listed in the above description can continue open burning, as long as residents follow the guidelines as set forth in Section 3 of the Oldham County Open Burn Ordinance, which has been in effect since December 6, 2005.

Residents should be aware that all Oldham County Fire Departments have been given the authority to cite residents who are in violation of the Open Burn Ordinance.  Two important requirements to remember when conducting an open burn are that the resident MUST notify Oldham County Central Dispatch (502-222-0111) prior to the burn.  Secondly, the fire must remain attended to at all times until completely extinguished.  Specific questions concerning open burning can be addressed by contacting us at 502-222-1143 or info@lfrd.org.
