On March 7th, 2015 LaGrange Fire & Rescue Department was dispatched to assist South Oldham Fire Department on a multiple vehicle accident on I-71 North near the 17 mile marker. The incident involved a total of ten (10) vehicles, three(3) of those being semi-tractor trailers. As the pictures reveal one of the passenger cars was involved with fire upon arrival and one semi-tractor was on top of another passenger car.

There were five (5) injuries reported and one (1) fatality.

That portion of the interstate was shutdown for approximately 7 hours.
