On Wednesday, July 18, 2019, LaGrange Fire & Rescue Department along with Oldham County EMS responded to Wilborn Park in LaGrange to assist law enforcement with a male subject that jumped into the park lake after he led law enforcement on a foot chase through parts of LaGrange.

Upon arrival fire department personnel launched Boat 4599 into the lake with two fire department personnel and one law enforcement personnel on board. After several minutes of trying to persuade the male subject to get out the water, fire and law enforcement personnel had to enter the water from the boat to capture the man. The male subject was brought to shore safely where he was placed into law enforcement custody.

According to police, the male subject was reported walking naked through the streets in the area of East Washington Street. When law enforcement arrived on the scene, the male subject fled on foot where then jumped into Lake and refused to get out. Police suspect that the male subject was suffering from an unknown mental condition and may also be under the influence of an unknown drug.

The male subject was transported to University Hospital in Louisville by Oldham County EMS for treatment and evaluation.
