| Recently, members of LFRD attended the Department's annual awards banquet held at the John Black Community Center in Buckner.
Three major awards presented this year were the "Rookie of the Year" Award, the "Firefighter of the Year" Award and the "Mayfield Rankin" Award. The recipient of the 2008 "Rookie of the Year" Award was Firefighter Tom Stanley out of station three. The recipient of the 2008 "Firefighter of the Year" Award was Firefighter Jeff Darius out of station one. The recipient of the 2008 "Mayfield Rankin" Award was Lieutenant Brian Claybern. The "Mayfield Rankin" Award is awarded to the paid firefigher of the year. In addition to these three awards, a host of other awards were presented to the membership in appreciation for thier hard work and continious dedication throughout the year.

Members also were able to enjoy a great sit-down dinner. This time allowed for camaraderie among friends and family. |
