Recruit Testing
By Captain Mike Hammond
June 20, 2009
The recruit training for the latest recruit class is an approximate 4 month "adventure" in which the recruits acquire the essentials needed to become an entry level firefighter..The process is a combination of classroom and hands on training in all areas. On a VERY hot and muggy Saturday morning the latest recruit class put their skills to the test and showed the knowledge that had acquired. The day started with being timed on "gearing up" in a timely fashion with all their PPE on correctly and in less than 2 minutes. Then the true test began with the multiple evolutions consisting of everything from a simulated rescue of a victim in a fire to auto extrication skills and the grand finale being a working vehicle fire in 90 degree heat..Congratulations to FF. Christopher Clements and FF. Phillip Garrett on being the latest to hang in there and complete this process!!!!!!!
