One Car Rollover Proves Fatal
By Major Keith Smith
March 3, 2007
On Saturday, March 3rd, 2007 at 1313 hrs., the LaGrange Fire & Rescue Department was dispatched to the area of Hwy. 146 and Button Lane in LaGrange on a report of a single vehicle accident with a possible rescue. Upon arrival on scene, LaGrange Command 4504 reported one vehicle off the roadway with one patient in the drivers position and that there would be an extrication involved. It was also reported to responding units that it appeared that the vehicle had rolled over several times. Crew members aboard Engine 4531 and Rescue 4535 arrived on scene minutes later and began vehicle stabilization and placed extrication tools in operation while personnel from Oldham County EMS assessed the patient's injuries and provided medical care. Stat-Care was requested to the scene in order to tranport the patient to a local trauma facility. Prompt and efficient use of cutters, rams and spreaders by LaGrange personnel to remove the roof of the 1998 Toyota Camry and allowed the patient to be removed from the vehicle in a timely manner, however, the 32 year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene.
